Description

The Research Outputs Specialist is responsible for a range of duties and tasks related to research outputs, including their collection, verification and reporting; coordinating their assessment; and developing researcher skills in their production and handling.


A significant part of the role is to lead the university's research outputs processes, including interpretation of national research assessment guidelines, reviewing, verifying and categorising individual outputs, supporting open research outputs and training of academic staff as required.


The position requires sound project management and organizational skills, both quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, clear verbal and written communication, the initiative to deal with complex issues, and the ability to maintain a close working relationship with professional and academic colleagues across the university.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Assist in the promotion, collection and assessment of Non-Traditional Research Output (NTRO) submissions, including acting as the secretariate of the committee and panels and reporting on outcomes.
  • Manage Swinburne's Publications Collection, including the development of project plans, refine and improve processes & workflows, produce project completion reports and the implementation of project outcomes.
  • Prepare the annual Publications Collection report for review by University management and leadership.
  • Identify business requirements and review, design, and develop reports, metrics and data sets to meet business needs, including those that meet University planning and performance frameworks, the implementation and monitoring strategic plans, and emerging needs and opportunities.
  • Provide training and support in research output best practice and the use of the university's research management systems.

Qualifications

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive relevant experience; or
- an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
