This role will lead PHA's HAZOPS and Safety Assessments as well as providing continuous oversight and assistance with MHF programs on both of our Australian sites, specifically ensuring that control measures are held to a high degree of compliance.


This role will be responsible for the planning and execution of varied Process Safety and Major Hazard Facility regulatory tasks across the ANZ region.

Some of these tasks include, safety assessments, risk evaluation, safety case development, process safety audits, PHA's, HAZOPS, MHF License. You will be the technical expert, providing specific guidance on technical matters in consultation with global counterparts.


Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, this senior position within our business requires a leader who has sound technical knowledge in the implementation of risk evaluation methodologies within the chemical manufacturing industry to successfully manage process safety for our 24/7 Major Hazard Facilities.


Other responsibilities include:


  • Lead regulatory compliance initiatives in MHF (Safety Case), PSM and site security.
Develop and maintain Safety Management System (SMS) procedures to satisfy regulations with respect to MHF.
Develop and lead the identification of major incidents and major incident hazards across all sites
Conduct a comprehensive and systematic assessment across all sites to evaluate the risk of operations
Provide expertise in quantitative and semi-quantitative (LOPA) analysis
Lead the implementation of risk control and reduction (capital and non-capital) measures
Develop, write and maintain documentation on risk control measures and safety critical elements
Fulfil site safety role across all sites as Process Safety Specialist and monitor site modifications
Assist each site in the development of site emergency plans to achieve regulatory approvals

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent education and experience
Advanced experience in the implementation of risk evaluation methodologies
Significant experience in EH&S and process safety ideally within MHF environments
Must be familiar with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and the implementation of SMS processes
Solid working knowledge of systems and practices in field of expertise
Must be familiar with Australian & NZ (ANZ) safety, environmental regulations and code of practice/guidance material
Must be familiar with ANZ process safety, engineering and industrial hygiene standards
Experience in implementing a broad program for multiple sites
Prior experience in project management
Able to travel 15% of the time domestically and internationally
Familiar with SAP and Electronic Data Management Systems
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills with the ability of promoting teamwork through inclusiveness and collaboration
Strong time management, technical and problem-solving skills
Experience initiating and leading change
