Description

Initiate/contribute to the development of scientific practices, procedures, protocols and research activities within Cytology that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to screen and where authorised, report and validate gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology preparations.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake, or rapidly acquire the skills to undertake, cytology specimen preparation, assessment, diagnostic testing and related duties both within the preparatory laboratory and at external clinical units.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment to achieve the goals of the work unit.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to actively participate in and contribute to continuing education and other professional development activities.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Degree of Applied Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science (or agreed equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
  • CT(ASC) qualification or agreed equivalent, must contain gynaecological component
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of duties.
  • Staff must be able to participate in some weekend work.
  • In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in oncall arrangements.
