Description

Initiate/contribute to the development of scientific practices, procedures, protocols and research activities within Cytology that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to screen and where authorised, report and validate gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology preparations.
Demonstrated ability to undertake, or rapidly acquire the skills to undertake, cytology specimen preparation, assessment, diagnostic testing and related duties both within the preparatory laboratory and at external clinical units.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment to achieve the goals of the work unit.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to actively participate in and contribute to continuing education and other professional development activities.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Degree of Applied Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science (or agreed equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
CT(ASC) qualification or agreed equivalent, must contain gynaecological component
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of duties.
Staff must be able to participate in some weekend work.
In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in oncall arrangements.
