Health, Safety and Risk

  • Carry out risk assessments in the workplace and the team to mitigate any risks
  • Inspect work area and equipment for hazards, damage and defects prior to commencing work
  • Ensure individual compliance with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, Macmahon and Client instructions, policies, procedures and practices

Technical/Operational

  • Keep equipment and tools in a good condition at all times
  • Perform general engineering fitting, turning, general and mining vehicle maintenance or other duties as specified by your Supervisor and report findings accurately
  • Perform all welding, gouging, cutting and burning or other duties as specified by your Supervisor and report findings accurately
  • Access martials/parts required to repair or fabricate the component
  • Build, repair and fabricate components for all underground plant and equipment
  • Appropriate use of all plant and equipment to minimise downtime
  • Check and maintain all gas cutting and welding equipment, including prestart on welding equipment
  • Carry out repairs as to the CMMS (Computerised maintenance management system) and follow the maintenance system as they are directed
  • Read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders and carbon rod gauging
  • Carry out bucket, blade and body inspections as directed by Supervisor

Commercial/Financial

  • Examine work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Carry out break down repairs in the pit as well as the workshop as instructed by supervisor
  • Perform duties in a cost effective manner
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently to avoid damage or premature failure

Team Contribution

  • Communicate with your Leading Hand to ensure all appropriate tooling and equipment are available to effectively execute your work
