Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Controller to join the Inventory team.

Reporting to the Inventory Manager, this role is responsible for continuously monitoring stock levels to ensure optimum stock holding levels are maintained with a particular focus on identifying obsolete/excess inventory and redistributing/disposing it to minimise costs to the company.

This role is also responsible for training stores personnel on the inventory related processes and procedures, and conducting regular audits to ensure compliance.


The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations.


Responsibilities

  • Provide constructive feedback to operational stores personnel on performance
  • Ensure physical arrangement of receivables, storage and dispatch areas at the sites are adequate for the process to operate safely and efficiently
  • Review procedures and enforce/coach employees on processes for the physical receipt of goods from suppliers, adhoc issues, picking parts and sending goods off site
  • Assist with investigations into variances with a view to identify process improvements and drive implementation
  • Lead project startups from an inventory perspective, including the setup of the physical facilities
  • Comply with and ensures team compliance with Inventory and related policies and procedures
  • Oversee stocktake process and investigates variances
  • Identify areas of improvement to process and implement
  • For stock no longer required, determine how to reduce its value
  • In consultation with the sites, implement changes to items being stocked
  • Review warehouse procedures to ensure they continuously improve
  • Review warehouse layouts to ensure it is optimum and meets all statutory requirements
  • Develop procedures/processes to ensure stocked items do not deteriorate or expire
  • Lead biannual stock takes
  • Review catalogue to keep data clean

Qualifications and attributes

  • 5 years' experience as a store person
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Safety and housekeeping training
  • Forklift license
  • Team management training
  • Formal auditing qualification
  • At least 1 year warehouse supervisory/management experience
  • Interpersonal skills
  • At least 2 years' experience managing a team of more than 4 people
