Maxima's Recruitment Services is seeking a dynamic individual as a Corporate Compliance Officer/Manager (Technical)
This is a temporary assignment working full-time hours, commencing March 2024 through to the end of December 2024.

About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to manage corporate governance associated with the beneficial enterprises of Council, ensuring adherence to legislation and best practices.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Oversee corporate governance for Council's beneficial enterprises.
  • Utilise specialized knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Local Government Act 2009 and Statutory Bodies Financial Arrangements Act 198
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define consistent reporting standards for Council, the Audit and Risk Committee, and external bodies.
  • Quickly acquire detailed understanding of corporate structures within Council's beneficial enterprises.
  • Stay updated on current local government and industry compliance standards.
  • Provide assistance as needed within the Risk and Compliance Program.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, conveying complex ideas in understandable terms and delivering strategic written reports. Also, actively contribute to health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives while adhering to Council's Safety Management System.

About You

  • Formal tertiary qualifications ideally in law, governance, risk, and/or compliance.
  • Completion of the AICD Company's Directors course or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance principles and practices in a government context.
  • Advanced skills in investigative compliance actions and root cause analysis.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience providing technical advice on corporate compliance obligations.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain compliance frameworks in large organizations.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Expert reporting skills with experience producing complex compliance reports.
  • Highlevel communication and interpersonal skills.
