Description

Located in the Discipline of Nursing within the Department of Nursing and Allied Health, the Lecturer Nursing will work to enhance the quality and delivery of nurse education and research at Swinburne, working in collaboration with the Discipline Lead, Course Director and academic colleagues across the school and the health sector to achieve these objectives.


The Lecturer will also contribute to the development and review of Nursing and Allied Health courses in the department using blended models of unit delivery; contribute to clinical supervision of students on placement and participate in the administration and ongoing curriculum development of units offered by the discipline and progress research and scholarship aligned to the strategic direction of the school.


With a passion to innovate and embrace diversity the Lecturer will enrich the opportunities of colleagues and students in the delivery of practice-based education and research within the discipline.

The incumbent will be expected to carry out educational and curriculum development of both online and on campus learning materials and assessments in nursing.

In addition, the appointee will facilitate the overall coordination of units, including teaching, clinical supervision and marking assessments.


The incumbent will be expected to develop and contribute to research activities in the School of Health Sciences in nursing, health services and/or pedagogy and will be expected to carry out appropriate activities that will maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional expertise.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute to research teams and partnerships and in practice research supervision to achieve high impact research outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching including a record of coordination, teaching and curriculum development and teaching in Nurse Education.
  • Experience with online learning and teaching methods in nursing education including creation or use of leading edge/best practice delivery methods such as flexible delivery formats.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in nursing or health care.
  • A high degree of organisational and administrative skills and capacity to contribute to management of course and program delivery.

Qualifications

  • A Doctorate qualification appropriate to the Discipline (desirable).
  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or equivalent health professional qualifications/credentials.
