About the branch
The Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety (WROS) Branch enjoys an extraordinary diversity of exciting and challenging matters.
The work can range from providing advice and conducting litigation in relation to all aspects of Victorian Public Sector occupational health and safety matters, employment, industrial relations, and discrimination law.
It is a small close knit team that enjoy working collaboratively together.About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an eager and dedicated Legal Assistant to join our Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety Branch.
This role would ideally be suited to someone looking to build on their existing legal secretary experience and create a career in this field.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Preparing correspondence and documents drafting and typing (dictaphone)
- Amending & formatting documents
- File management maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy format
- Telephone assistance both incoming and screening
- Assisting with monthly billing
- General administration photocopying, couriers, billing, relieving reception
- Looking for ways to reduce the administrative workload of your solicitors
This role will provide you with the opportunity to take ownership and build a long-term career with great development and progression opportunities.
Skills and experience
- Some prior experience working as a Legal Assistant in a law firm is desirable
- Experience in working in large documents dealing with formatting/corruption issues and a sound knowledge MS word is desirable
- Confident in providing high level legal administrative assistance to more than one solicitor
- Selfstarter who takes initiative and has the ability to operate autonomously
- High attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence
