About the Role


SSI is committed to ensuring children and young people are supported and respected, can participate safely and feel empowered when participating in our services.

This newly created role will lead the implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across SSI Group to ensure that SSI meets and maintains its obligations as a Child Safe Organisation.

In addition, the role is responsible for implementing strategies, processes and practices in compliance with state specific child safe standards.

The role will also include addressing barriers to implementation within programs and services at SSI.


The position will work collaboratively with services to support earlier and more effective intervention to vulnerable children, young people and their families and, where required, support the engagement of families with services.

This is a significant opportunity to be the key champion in determining, driving and implementing SSI's Child Safety plans, organisation wide.

You will also become a trusted advisor within the organisation, championing human rights in respect to child safety.

About You

We are looking for someone with relevant demonstrated experience in implementing child-safe practices.

You will be an advocate for children and young people, with an understanding of Child Safe regulations and a passion for ensuring children's safety is at the forefront of an organisation's practices.

to You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and will thrive in a fast - paced complex environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrable work experience in delivering services to children
  • Familiarity with the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations
  • Cultural awareness and competency understands and applies culturally informed practice that is focused on the child in the context of their family, in a way that considers situations, activities, decisions, and outcomes from the perspective of each stakeholder's cultural background.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to lead others to fulfill commitments and deliver according to a plan
  • Strong interpersonal, clientfacing and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Planner
  • Handson experience with MS Office 365 collaboration tools
  • Experience in managing culture change/transformation projects (desirable)
