About the Role
The Project Coordinator, Community Engagement

  • Building Stronger Families (BSF) is responsible for community engagement and development in Men's Behaviour Change Programs in language and in culture specifically in the domestic violence space. The role is mostly across Western and South Western Sydney and diverse cultural and language groups, for now Arabic and Dari/Farsi.
The overall aim of this role is to build strong connections between the project and communities and services. The role will connect closely with police, DCJ, the courts, lawyers, community services, leaders and religious leaders. This Project is in partnership with Relationships Australia NSW (RANSW).

This role will be for 3 days a week, perfect for someone looking for a role that allows for flexibility while making an impact on the lives of people you work with.

The role will be until 30 June 2023, with a view to extend.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Building strong referral pathways to BSF with police, DCJ, courts, lawyers, etc
  • Delivering and supporting psychoeducation service and community information forums on DFV and services and on BSF
  • Providing culturally responsive support to the BSF team
  • Supporting and contributing to the work of SSIs internal DFV committee or other practice working groups.
  • Leading the BSF Reference Group

Essential Criteria:


  • Tertiary Degree in social work, social sciences, psychology, law or similar degree or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the settlement and DFV
  • Experience in managing multiple partnerships and stakeholders
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a community network
  • Understanding and experience of the Men's Behaviour Change sector
