Manager Cyber Security, Clerk Grade 9/10, Wollongong

  • Work in a volunteerbased agency supporting communities of NSW
  • Full time ongoing role
  • Location: Wollongong location; Sydney or other regional locations may be considered with flexibility to hybrid working arrangements
  • Salary: Maximum TRP $143,223 (Salary range $116,211 $128,061). Total remuneration package includes salary plus employer's 11% contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Manager to join the Business Systems Team. The role is responsible for leading the development, implementation and maintenance of the cyber security frameworks, policies, and guidelines.


The role manages the operational cyber security services (BAU) and security systems management to ensure authorised users can readily access information and that the information is protected.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent.

NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities


While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state.

This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.


About you


To be successful in this role you will need to have extensive experience developing and maintaining cyber security solutions to assist the business in meeting their business objectives.


Essential Requirements
***- Experience in support and/or operations in the cybersecurity field, including system management and administration

  • Experience in people leadership
  • Hands on experience with cyber security related technologies
  • An ability to maintain uptodate knowledge on ICT, cyber security, and cyber risk trends
  • Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills with the ability to cooperate in forums such as working groups, committee meetings, and stakeholder consultations
  • Practical experience with the implementation and/or risk assessment of security standards and frameworks (NIST, ISO27001, ASD ISM)
  • Qualifications, certifications, or experience relevant to cyber security will be highly regarded
