People Support
The People Support Unit is located within the Department for Education (the department), People & Culture Division.

The People Support Unit is the first point of contact for employment advice, services and support for over 30,000 employees across our workforce.


We are looking for people who want to make an impact and are committed to world-leading service excellence for frontline People Support Officer roles.


The People Support Officer forms part of a connected team that provides a customer focussed service to department employees and stakeholders across the employee lifecycle as well as People & Culture programs and initiatives.

The role works in a service delivery environment, providing contact centre and face to face member services.

In the role, you will provide People & Culture (human resources) information both verbally and in writing in a timely and professional manner.

You will also develop and maintain a practical knowledge of People & Culture (human resources) legislation, policy and procedures.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

Special Conditions
There is one ongoing role at 1.0 FTE available.


The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.


Please note that department employees working in high-risk environments are required to maintain up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19, with a TGA Approved Vaccine, or comply with the following reasonable, additional safety measures to mitigate risk in the workplace.

Vaccination status must be disclosed and provided for sighting on request.

Remuneration
ASO3 $65,606 - $69,919

Applicants are to provide a summary of current duties relevant to the vacant position, along with details of relevant experience and knowledge addressing the following requirements:

  • Proven experience in a high-volume customer service environment delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of customers and an ability to manage multiple customer inputs across multiple channels simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to use initiative and judgement to analyse and investigate problems in line with established policies and procedures and to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Proven ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate workloads under general direction to agreed results within given time frames.
