    About the Role

    Working within the Gene Technology Policy and Governance Section you will be working on proposed legislative changes in line with applicable procedures and guidelines and assisting in the implementation of recommendations of the Third Review of the National Gene Technology Scheme

    Duties

    • provide policy advice supported by sound research and analysis;
    • developing high quality documents for a range of audiences, including briefings, minutes, meeting and consultation papers;
    • prepare agenda and briefing papers for the gene technology legislation and governance committees;
    • analysing, interpreting and evaluating information from various sources eg submissions;

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Ability to develop strategic policy and legislative advice, prepare policy and research papers including drafting briefings to the Minister and Senior Executives.
    • Understanding of the legislative process and ability to translate policy into legislative drafting.
    • Organisation and time management skills, with a proven ability to show initiative and take responsibility for progressing tasks and projects.

    What's on offer

    The successful candidate will be offered an APS6 hourly rate contract, notionally a 6month opportunity. This position is based in Canberra.

    As this role is with the Federal Government, only Australian citizens that hold a baseline clearance or a willingness to obtain, will be considered for this vacancy.
