We are looking for exceptional individuals to join the Mental Health Division to support implementation of the Royal Commission's recommendations, specifically _Recommendation 57:
Workforce strategy, planning and structural reform_.


The Manager/s, Workforce Growth and Workforce Development, are key roles in the Division that lead small teams to undertake collaborative workforce analysis, planning and design and implementation across the portfolios of Workforce Growth (dedicated to workforce innovation, expansion, and promotion), Workforce Development (dedicated to workforce capabilities and specialist skill development) and Workforce Strategy (dedicated to strategic planning, data and analysis) to support mental health workforce reform.


The work of the Workforce Unit is steered by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy which is developed in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and gives consideration to intersecting reform initiatives.

Accountabilities:


  • Effectively manage and provide leadership to a team, including:
  • (a) defining team roles and expectations
- (b) leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes; providing timely and constructive feedback
- (c) modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
- (d) managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
- (e) proactively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the department.
- _Provide high quality business intelligence, authoritative advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research._

  • Shape and coordinate large scale, complex workforce analyses and modelling exercises that inform the development of workforce strategy and workforce development policy.
  • Provide authoritative advice related to workforce planning to support departmental system design and service planning activities.
  • Manage the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including project development and delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Forge strong connections across the department, other key departments and other external stakeholders to facilitate a collaborative approach to the development of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy.
  • Respond flexibly and adapt approaches in order to deliver outcomes in the face of uncertainty.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact consumers and carers and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
