Curtin Medical School brings together expertise in the fields of biomedical sciences, laboratory medicine, pharmacy, medical radiation science, and medicine.

As well as providing the only direct entry undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia, the school offers the only accredited undergraduate pharmacy course in WA, a laboratory medicine course approved by the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, and a professionally recognised degree in medical radiation science.


Your new role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Anatomy Teaching and Research Academic to join the Curtin Medical School.

You will work with a team of anatomists who are advancing human biology education through the use of innovative digital technologies and teaching platforms.


In this role you will (but are not limited to):

  • Deliver high-quality and innovative teaching to undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate students across the Human Biomedicine major in the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and the Clinical Medical Science major in the Bachelor of Advanced Biomedical Sciences (Honours) course.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and promote in others, ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
  • Conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Keep abreast of current discipline theory and practice.
  • Undertake a broad range of administrative functions connected with unit coordination.
  • Undertake nationally and internationally competitive and highquality research in discipline/field.
  • Play a significant role in research projects, including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team/projects.
  • Develop a coherent program of research.
  • Provide leadership in relation to school/facultywide initiatives e.g. a collaborative network.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.

Selection Criteria

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline with anatomy tertiary experience.
  • Proven teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching. A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and experience in curriculum development and unit coordination in Human Biology.
  • An established record of research outputs/creative works in highquality refereed academic journals/outlets.
  • Evidence of an established reputation and growing profile in teaching/research.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives.
  • Highlevel communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with students and staff with crosscultural sensitivity.
