Your new role


The Project Officer will largely be occupied with supporting the ARC Discovery Project which examines the nature and impact of political and economic agency among African migrants in Australia, using mixed methods (survey, interviews, media and policy analysis).

This project will generate new knowledge offering a blueprint for such policy settings. This role will provide extensive administrative support, assistance with projects as well managing several sub projects.

As a Project Officer, you will:

  • Coordinate the work of the project which includes a number of research sub projects using mixed methods.
  • Ensure timelines are met.
  • Ensure open communication channels.
  • Support team with organising meetings, arranging interview and with the survey sub project.
  • Manage budgets, project data and records and project communications.
  • Other administrative tasks as required.

Essential Criteria:


  • A relevant degree with experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in social science and administration.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of the experiences of African migrants in Australia.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to successfully coordinate and implement projects to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
  • The ability to foster meaningful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Researchers from African backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
