_Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital_


The Clinical Superintendent in Surgery is a twelve-month appointment to a leadership role for a recent surgical graduate (FRACS) with an interest in medical management and medical education.

The Clinical Superintendent will work closely with the Heads of Surgical Departments, the Director Medical Services and their team, senior medical staff, Doctors-in-Training and Hospital management, providing a key point of liaison for coordination and management of medical education, wellbeing, learning and day-to-day junior medical staff activities.


The Clinical Superintendent in Surgery will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encourage an academic environment which supports education, wellbeing, research and professional development.


The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Salary and conditions are in accordance with NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.**To be employed by NSW Health, you are required to provide evidence of current immunity status that complies with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy. Successful applicants are required to abide by the Code of Conduct.
