Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at Concord Repatriation General Hospital
We are looking for a Visting Medical Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery.

The primary purpose of the role of Visiting Medical Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Orthopaedic Surgery and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Orthopaedic Surgery Department and Hospital as required.


The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.


The Visiting Medical Officer in this position will be required to have completed at least six (preferably twelve) months completing a fellowship sub-specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery.

The Visiting Medical Officer must be proficient at advanced techniques in shoulder and elbow arthroscopy and arthroplasty, as well as being capable at managing complex traumatic conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow.


The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and have a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with recognised qualifications in Orthopaedic Surgery and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


To be employed by NSW Health, you are required to provide evidence of current immunity status that complies with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy.
