About the role


We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Thrift Shop Manager to provide assistance to the Thrift Shop Manager to lead and develop the stores to maximize profits and strengthen links between thrift shops, Community Support Service, wider community and Corps.

This role will have supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.

Key responsibilities

As your duties are to assist the Thrift Shop Manager you will have a wide and varied role, however what we believe the most important are:

  • Deliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs, training staff in best practice customer service and actively seeking opportunities to connect customers to TSA mission
  • Provide training, guidance, direction and feedback to all volunteers
  • Assist in the implementation of appropriate retail sales opportunities internally and externally to maximize sales such as store promotions and attending seasonal local markets
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with community and partner agencies, including management of collocated partner programs
  • Ensure that that the shops runs efficiently and effectively in the absence of the manager
This is a permanent part-time position, 21 hours per week, based in Wendouree, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with General Retail Award Level 4.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in team management is essential
  • Merchandising and store presentation skills
  • Experience managing stock
  • Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A valid VIC Drivers Licence
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
Nice to have

  • Experience working and managing volunteers preferred
  • Retail management experience is highly desirable
  • Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business is desirable
  • Certificate level qualification in Retail Management desirable
This position will require physical ability to safely stand, sit, walk regularly and for long periods of time.

Some responsibilities require the Manager to push, pull, lift, carry and restrain stock, climb ladders, and use computer mouse and eftpos machine.

This will all be in line with WHS policies and procedures.
