Foster House and the Together Home Program support individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

We are looking for a caring, empathic and compassionate individual to assist us in a volunteer capacity in an Music Therapy position.

The role will provide creative and therapeutic experiences for Foster House Residents and the Together Home program individuals.

  • Fortnightly on Mondays 12 hours
  • Conducting Music therapy sessions with individuals using various types of visual art, including drawing, sculpting, painting, ceramics, and clay modelling.
  • Discuss patients' musical expression to evaluate the meaning and emotions behind the artworks.
  • Collaborating with other workers to discuss issues that may arise.
  • Work through a traumainformed lens, whilst being personcentered and strengthbased.
  • Empathetic, understanding, and a clear understanding of professional boundaries.
  • Developing suitable music therapy programs for patients based on their needs, objectives, and goals.
  • Work in a culturally responsive manner
  • This role will require a Working With Childrens Check and a Police Check
  • Diploma of Music Therapy or equivalent experience. Mental Health First Aid and Diploma of Counselling would be desired.
There will be some mandatory training to complete once you are engaged with us.
