This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Media Adviser to join the Communications Branch.
The Communications Branch provides media and communications support to the department, Prime Minister and portfolio ministers. The Branch is a dynamic, fast-paced and friendly place to work. Media Advisers are responsible for providing strategic media and issues management advice to a wide range of areas in the department. Our core business includes providing timely and appropriate responses to media enquiries, producing high-quality media materials and overseeing media monitoring.
You will provide media support for major Prime Ministerial events, including overseas travel and incoming Guest of Government visits, State Funerals and other events. You will operate as part of a broader team reporting to the Director, Public Affairs and Media. The role also works in partnership with areas across the department on media and communications strategies for their projects. The role requires occasion travel and participation in an on-call roster. We value team members who can think strategically, work across a number of issues and projects, and deliver outcomes to deadlines.
