ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking to welcome a number of Precinct Safety Officers to our team on a casual basis.

This role is integral in ensuring the safe delivery of events held at the Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct through providing direct on-the-ground support to our Venue Management teams throughout the various phases of an event, including bump-in, event delivery, and bump-out.

Reporting to the Precinct Safety Manager, the Precinct Safety Officer works alongside a broad array of stakeholders - employees, business partners, contractors and clients ensuring they are working safely at all times and that hazards are proactively identified and controlled.

Our thriving precinct operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Phases of events take place during early mornings, late into or over-night and on weekends.

To be successful in this role, your availability should be aligned to these times and include being available during the peak event times from August to March each year, where you will be rostered onto shifts according to our event calendar at any one of our Venues.

Here are some of the key areas of responsibility you will have in the Precinct Safety Officer role:

_ Safety Inspections & Audits_

  • Conduct thorough event safety inspections to identify and rectify potential hazards promptly. This will include checking for completion of the Event Safety Induction, predoors venue inspections, rigging and pyrotechnic set ups.
  • Perform routine safety audits to uphold compliance and excellence across all event setups.

_Investigations_

  • Working closely with the Venue Management team, undertake investigations into safety related incidents (including injuries and near misses) ensuring timely and highquality reporting.
  • Ensure immediate corrective actions are put in place to prevent recurrence.

_Emergency Responses__ _
_& First Aid_

  • Implement and oversee emergency response procedures to ensure swift and effective action in case of incidents.
  • Maintain readiness to administer first aid and provide medical assistance as necessary.

_Safety Reporting & Communication_

  • Strong focus on the identification of hazards and reporting via M&OP's Incident Management System.
  • Provide support to event and venue team members ensuring safety related reporting is thorough and classified correctly to aid in efficient follow up and reporting after the event.
  • Document observations and incidents to facilitate continuous improvement and communication within the team.
  • Deliver clear and engaging safety briefings to ensure universal understanding and adherence to safety protocols.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
You don't mind getting your hands dirty

We are an "all in" organisation, where everyone gets involved and no job is too small for someone to do.

You enjoy jumping in to solve problems and thrive in a busy, operational environment.

You build strong, effective relationships

You are a keen collaborator building strong relationships across various stakeholder groups. You have good communication skills that sees safety at the forefront of people's minds. You bring a high customer service focus and pro-active approach to problem solving.

You strive to continuously improve

Innately, you are driven for 'better'. You look for safer ways of doing things that balance improved safety outcomes with efficient operations. You don't accept that "the way it has always been done" is the way it should be done.

You are well credentialed and keen for continued development

At a minimum you hold a current Certificate IV in OH&S / WH&S or higher, First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Certification as a Safety Officer in a Place of Public Entertainment while not mandatory would be highly regarded.
