The Role


The Principal Project and Policy Officer (PPPO) is part of the Community Services Monitoring Unit which is responsible for statutory functions under the Community Services (Complaints Reviews and Monitoring) Act 1993 (CS CRAMA).

These functions include the monitoring and review of the delivery of community services, including the reviews of the situation of a child in care, or of a group of children in care.

The PPPO is responsible for providing high-level research and advice to assist our mission to improve the quality of and level of accountability, integrity and fairness of government agencies and non-government organisations

delivering public and community services.


About you


You will have tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to community services and demonstrated extensive experience in one or more of the following: case reviews, project management, research, inquiry, policy analysis/development.


The PPPO must identify emerging issues arising from Ombudsman functions, including complaints and inquiries, and community engagement, and propose and lead strategies for responding to these issues.

You will have proven high-level ability to think critically and analyse, interpret and evaluate information.


The PPPO takes a lead role in preparing statutory and other reports that are tabled in parliament and released publicly.

This requires excellent judgement and analytic capability.

You will have exceptional written and verbal communication.

Able to produce high quality, accurate and well-researched work while managing a high workload and competing priorities, including those which require weighing up the short and long-term goals of the office.


The PPPO must be alert to their own support needs and support needs of staff and promote wellbeing initiatives, including external supervision sessions, the EAPS Program and informal debriefing activities.

You will have previous experience in staff supervision and leading teams.
