- Providing a high level of care to ensure animals are maintained in a healthy state including: food, water, and a clean cage;
- Monitoring animal health,
- Checking for pregnancy and litters born,
- Setting up breeding pairs (under the guidance of senior staff)
- Maintaining accurate records using our bespoke online Animal Management System.
- Be committed to animal welfare and care,
- Possess strong observational skills, good verbal and written communication skills,
- Be reliable, patient, and trustworthy, and
- Be able to work individually or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to work independently and safely with quality as one of the key focus points.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner, complying with ABR policies and undertaking improvements where required.
- Follow ABR safety rules, WHS & wellbeing directives, procedures, standards and regulations and actively work towards improvement of safe working practices
- Work in compliance with several quality assurance programs, animal ethics and quarantine protocols.

Australian BioResources (ABR) is a state-of-the-art facility that specializes in breeding and maintaining high-quality laboratory mice for medical researchers across NSW and throughout Australia. We are located in Moss Vale. As an ABR Animal Technician, you will join our team of highly trained professionals and contribute to vital medical research by caring for precious research mice.
This is an entry-level role that requires no previous experience or qualifications, as we provide full training.
As an ABR Animal Technician, your primary responsibilities will be centred around ensuring the welfare of the mice. These duties will include:

While previous experience working with animals or a related qualification is not required, it would be highly advantageous. A basic understanding of the husbandry, housing, and breeding requirements of laboratory animals or basic manipulation skills (such as injection techniques or euthanasia) would also be beneficial.
The salary for this position is $54,000 per annum, plus 11% superannuation and salary packaging options. As an ABR Animal Technician, you will also have access to a range of benefits, including generous salary packaging, ample opportunities for ongoing training, development and progression, paid parental leave, discounted health insurance, and lifestyle discounts with our community partners.
