Position Summary:


Do you want to join a growing dynamic team driving improved care through research, translation and impact? This will be a key role in a collaborative team, focused on making a difference in our community.

The role will be responsible for writing proposals, documents, journal articles, and manuals in the healthcare field.

You will cover topics in women's health, clinical trials, epidemiology, implementation and public health research and translation including educational materials.

This key role will primarily support a multidisciplinary team across Monash University and Monash Health. This will involve coordinating across authorship teams, planning and coordinating grants, journal publications and other outputs. An enthusiastic, passionate and experienced Medical Writer who wants to make a difference to health outcomes is sought.

The role reports directly to and will work closely with the Director and be an integral member of the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation.

Annual contract extension is anticipated.


About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI),
MCHRI sits under the Facility of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Established in 2005, MCHRI has grown from 3 to 110 staff and students.

This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare.

MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours.

We do this by_ creating, synthesising, implementing and translating clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact.

About the Role


The key purpose of the Medical Writer is to enable and assist impact and benefit from the collective work of the MCHRI team and our over 100 partners.

Responsibilities includes;

  • Write and edit highquality medical journals, abstracts, white papers, articles, brochures, regulatory documents, and product manuals about healthcarerelated topics such as [new medicinal discoveries/treatments, educational materials, clinical research, and product instructions
  • Create content for our website, newsletters, and PR with our communications manger
  • Communicate with medical and healthcare experts, patients/ community and other stakeholders
  • Source information and references including literature searches to support written documents
  • Collaborate and verify data with our team.
  • Thoroughly study reports and crosscheck information.
  • Conduct frequent and thorough quality control checks
  • Ensure that documents adhere to the writing guidelines, and are appropriately stored and organized.

About You


The person we are seeking will be an experienced health, medical or science writer with a background in research or science as well as writing.

Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to liaise and engage are essential.

The role requires sound writing skills, along with demonstrated high-level organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and support clinicians and academics with a flexible, positive and collaborative approach


What you need:


  • Tertiary qualification relevant to writing content, health or social sciences degree or experience, or experience working in or with the health and or research sector
  • Current Victorian driver's licence
