Description

Ongoing contract to characterize the performance of energetic materials for the Department of Defence's guided weapons research project.

Initiallythe contractruns until30th June, after that Government decides whether they would like to extend the project for another 12 months (This is standard policy for all of our Defence contracts).

We are in the 2nd offered extension for this project.

Requires experience working with energetic material and Australian Citizenship essential (for security clearances)

The Role...As a laboratory technician you will undertake the following

Mechanical and performance characterization of energetic materials; including mechanical property assessment, burn rate determination and physical properties.
Analysis of test data.
Maintenance of test facilities, liaise with workshop staff as required, prepare hardware and materials, conduct pre-test checks and post-test clean-up.
Ensure compliance documentation required for the safe operation of the laboratory is in place and current including managing the risks of hazardous chemicals in the workplace
Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments and process documentation

Your Next Employer...You'll be working with the R&D department for the Department of Defence (Defence Science Technology Group, DTSG) in Edinburgh. DSTG is currently supporting research into guided weapons prototyping.

You will need

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry.
Demonstrated understanding of QA/QC as it applies to analytical chemistry.
Demonstrated practical experience using a range of analytical chemistry testing equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with hazardous chemicals.
A tertiary qualification in Science, majoring in Chemistry
To be an Australian Citizen (ESSENTIAL)
