We are seeking a values-driven Ministry Assistant that will, in collaboration with the Corps Officer, engage, develop and coordinate inclusive community and Corps-based ministries and connections.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Ministry Assistant that will, in collaboration with the Corps Officer, engage, develop and coordinate inclusive community and Corps-based ministries and connections.

The role will champion and embrace children and families with a focus on engagement with communities of diverse cultures.

You will successfully

  • Create environments, activities and programs that will facilitate age appropriate and culturally relevant learning for children and families within the community and Corps
  • Develop community relationships that seek to deliver TSA mission for children and families
  • Provide pastoral care with a focus on, but not exclusive to, CALD communities and explore pathways for faith development
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers to effectively engage and support children and families in line with TSA policies and procedures
  • Participate in team activities, attend staff meeting when scheduled
  • Provide input, contribute to growth and expansion of the wider children and family connections within the Playford community
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Playford, SA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Hay Level 10.

You will have

  • A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of the Salvation Army. An ability to support, listen and guide people in prayer and in knowing Christ more
  • Experience in working with families and children is desirable. A love of and passion for families and children is key
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and pastoral capabilities
  • Diploma of Ministry/Theology or equivalent work experience or other formal training or undertaking appropriate study is preferred
  • A National Criminal History Check is required
  • Working with children's check
