To support clients of William Booth House through the process of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and residential rehabilitation, ensuring a safe and structured environment is maintained in accordance with TSA guidelines, within a person centred, recovery-based service.

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Workers to welcome and support clients through the process of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and residential rehabilitation


Other key responsibilities include:

  • Provide appropriate support to participants in line with established frameworks and TSA policy and procedure
  • Assist case workers and nursing staff to address client needs, administer the program, contribute to case plans, and provide supervision to participants.
  • Manage reception desk, including incoming calls and visitors to the centre
  • Ensure a safe and substance free environment Identify ensuring risks are identified and managed including deescalation of situations
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage selfdetermination and participation
You will have

  • Knowledge of AOD/gambling, community services and health sectors (preferably residential treatment settings).
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work with those impacted by substance abuse, gambling and mental health conditions.
  • Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Experience working in collaboration with other organisations.
  • Minimum of Certificate IV level qualification in a relevant discipline (AOD, Community Services, Case Management).
  • Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Current Drivers licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising deescalation techniques.
  • Comply with The Salvation Army Organisational Code of Conduct which includes an alcohol, gambling and drug free workplace
  • First aid certificate.
  • Sound computer literacy.
  • Ability to critically reflect on professional practice and attitudes.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team both internally and externally.
  • High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Highly effective planning, organisational, problem solving and evaluation skills.
  • Seeks new ideas, embraces new opportunities and adapts to change.
  • TSA core values and behaviours demonstrated in all work related activities.
This is a Part time permanent role, based at William Booth House Recovery Services Centre.
