    Job Description

    The Research Fellow position will contribute to the UKRI EPSRC Frontier Research Guarantee funded project in collaboration with University of Oxford "BIOTIC CHANGE: Why do some types of biotic change produce predictable ecological, evolutionary and life history strategy change?". This project represents a collaboration between Griffith University (Professor Hamish McCallum) and the University of Oxford (Professor Tim Coulson and Professor Sonya Clegg).

    To be successful in this role you will be required to:

    • Conduct extensive field-based research, which involves catching, measuring and banding birds.
    • Possess an Australian bird and bat banding scheme A-class license with mist-netting endorsement at time of application. This is an essential requirement of the position.
    • Possess a full driving licence.
    • Demonstrate expertise in data entry, data analysis and paper writing.
    • Manage students and volunteers undertaking fieldwork.

    This is a fixed term (3 years - with the possibility of extension), full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

    Griffith University's campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

    Salary Range
    The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow, Grade 1 range $84,830 - $99,367per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $99,251 - $116,259 per annum.

    You will also have:

    • A PhD in a related field (e.g. evolutionary ecology).
    • A good publication record in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals, and an ability to seek competitive funding.
    • Project management experience, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
