Overview:


The Principal Advisor, Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), is accountable for the provision of high quality and timely support and advice to the Chief Medical Officer, Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW) on the key functions and objectives of the OCMO including medical strategy and leadership.

This is a senior role and requires flexibility, adaptability, and initiative as well as excellent problem-solving skills.


The Officer will:

  • Provide strategic policy support and advice, briefs, reports, recommendations and evaluation around the key functions and objectives of the OCMO including medical strategy and leadership.
  • Investigate, collate, analyse and present information on relevant and emerging issues in medical strategy and leadership to support the CMO in coordinating the improvement and development of the medical profession and services across the state.
  • Initiate, lead and coordinate programs and projects that facilitate business improvement, risk management, culture and capacity building and operational efficiencies in the OCMO.
  • Prepare high level Executive correspondence and synthesise strategic information for the Minister for Health and Wellbeing and Department Executive, such as reports, presentations, briefings and research papers.
