We design, manufacture, and install modular buildings for education, affordable housing, mining, custodial and commercial sectors across all mainland Australian states.

About the role:


Reporting to the Design Manager, the Design Project Lead will be responsible for day-to-day direction of a team of Design Documenters, ensuring projects are delivered on time and with a high level of quality.

The Design Project Lead will play a key role in the design & construction process.

This position can be based out of NSW or Adelaide. The position will also offer a hybrid working environment from both home and office.


The key responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Lead and direct the delivery of Design projects, providing support to team members and reviewing documentation to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Work closely with internal estimating and steel teams and internal stakeholders across the project lifecycle to ensure the best outcomes for Fleetwood.
  • Produce comprehensive design packages for speculative and live project works, in accordance with project brief.
  • Coordinate with third party consultants and relevant authorities as required to obtain documentation in line with the project brief, including but not limited to building certification, client approval, and town planning.
  • Ensure effective communication and project standards coordination with clients, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake project administration processes for transmittals, submittals, design and construction models, shop drawings and schedules.
  • Ensure documentation complies with specifications, building codes/ regulations, standards and legislation, and contract requirements.
  • Work to drafting standards, ensuring conformity and project team adherence.
  • Create project status reports, track, and report on nominated and agreed metrics, reporting directly to the Design Manager.
  • Troubleshoot problems and support internal stakeholders and direct collaboration with production, sales and estimating.
  • Assist in identifying and communicating project related Revit content and family's creation priorities for the BIM Coordinator.
  • Comply with document control requirements.
  • Manage daily team performance, escalating to the Design Manager as required, and provide input into cyclical performance reviews.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • 5+ years' experience in professional design environment.
  • Qualification in Architecture, Building Design or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary business desirable.
  • Working knowledge of design industry workflows, production cycle and priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience preparing accurate and clear drawing packages, from concept to construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders, including clients, building surveyors and thirdparty consultants.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for team leadership and / or proven experience leading projects.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Able to take on additional responsibilities as needed, determine, and manage priorities with mínimal guidance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit is essential, AutoCAD and Lumion skills will be an advantage.
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook is essential.
