About the role


We are seeking a dedicated AOD Peer Worker You will provide effective support of program participants by co-facilitating residential program groups and provide support to clients accessing The Eastern Bridge Program.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide a lived/living experience perspective when cofacilitating residential program groups/activities
  • Provide support to clients during the admission process
  • Oneonone work with clients in conjunction with their AOD Practitioner
  • Act as a mentor to clients by sharing common experiences
  • Provide support to the AOD Specialist team where necessary whilst maintaining the scope of the Peer role
This is a fixed-term part-time position, contracted for 12 months, 15 hours per week, based in The Basin, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 2 Award.

What you will have

  • Experience supporting people struggling with substance use, including previous volunteer work
  • Experience in or willingness to learn skills in cofacilitation of groups
  • Evidence of completion of Peer Training through SHARC
  • Evidence of completion of AOD Skill Set or willingness to enrol
  • Knowledge of AOD sector, knowledge of the issues and challenges clients experience and a clear understanding of harm minimization approaches
  • Lived or living experience of addiction and accessing treatment services. An understanding of what contributes to recovery from a lived experience perspective
  • Knowledge around trauma informed practice
  • Clear understanding of peer role and differences between work of clinicians and of Peers
  • A Valid Driver's Licence _(desirable)_
