About the Role

Aboriginal Education Officers provide assistance to teachers, Aboriginal students and their families to support improved learning, welfare and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal students.

Essential Requirements

Working with Children Check Clearance

First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training

Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education and Training policies.

NSW Government is committed to taking immediate action to reduce teacher admin workload in schools and the roles being recruited are part of the School Admin Improvement Program.

We have multiple Aboriginal Education Officer roles available in schools across NSW including:

• Connected Communities : Boggabilla, Bourke, Bowraville, Coomealla, Coonamble, Dareton, Gunnedah, Kempsey, Moree, Narooma, Walgett, Wilcannia.

• Regional NSW : Albury, Bathurst, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Cowra, Deniliquin, Dubbo (Wambuul-Macquarie), Eden-Monaro, Far West, Great Lakes, Griffith, Lake Illawarra South, Lithgow, Maitland, Mooney Mooney, Mudgee, Namoi, Narrandera, Orange, Parkes, Port Macquarie, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan, Shoalhaven, Tamworth, Taree, Upper Hunter, West Wyalong.

• Sydney : Auburn, Beverly Hills, Bondi, Cambridge Park, Carlingford, Chullora, Frenchs Forest, Georges River, Girraween, Hornsby, Mount Druitt, North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Port Jackson (inner Sydney), Quakers Hill, St Andrews, The Hills, The Ponds and Windsor.

Specific Selection Criteria

Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal students.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and cultures.

Ability to interact with Aboriginal students and parents.

Experience working as part of a team.

Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community.
