- Base retainer of $78.28 p/fortnight + $33.14 p/hour for incident and drill attendance
About the role:
On-Call Firefighters work from their local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and are responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards, community education on fire prevention and safety for school children, senior citizens and local businesses, and collaboration with other emergency services such as NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police.
About you:
On-Call Firefighters play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment in their local communities.
To be successful in the role you need to be team oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work.
In order to respond promptly to emergency incidents, you must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station.
Essential requirements:
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station
Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers all aspects of firefighting and rescue including basic life support, rope work, power tool use and community engagement skills.
Minimum availability and attendance requirements:
At least 33% of all calls over a six (6) month period and a minimum of 80% of all calls received by the brigade during the compulsory availability in any four week period, together with no less than 75% drill attendance.
