Since it was established in 1950, French-owned, Expanscience Laboratories has been launching innovative products in the health and well-being sectors and developing know-how predominantly in the fields of Dermo-Cosmetics, Active Cosmetic Ingredients and Rheumatology.
In Australia, first under a distribution model from 2008 and then since 2014, through its own Melbourne-based subsidiary, Expanscience Laboratories has been selling the Mustela brand, Europe's leading baby skincare brand in pharmacies, to young Australians wishing the very best for their children's skin, through selected pharmacies, online stores and baby stores.
As a qualified general manager with 10 years of full-time experience relevant to the baby category industry and/or parent consumer target, you will be in charge of overseeing the daily operations of the Australian subsidiary.
You will ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, managing employees, communicating business goals, improving overall business functions, creating and maintaining budgets while ensuring the profitability of the subsidiary.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Market knowledge and understanding:
- Get a full understanding of the subsidiary market and the main touch points. Understand the key business drivers and market trends.
Business Development:
- Prepare and propose annual Budget and 3Year Plan for the subsidiary's development,
- Develop a longterm cooperation with key clients to assure regular activities and turnover, Identification of new business opportunities (cooperation with external brands, new chains, new wholesalers...),

Commercial mission:
- Support Sales team in defining & implementing the commercial policy for each type of clients (pharmacies, parapharmacies, wholesalers, chains of pharmacies, internet clients),
- Support Sales team in defining & managing the sales budget dedicated to cooperation agreements,
- Ensure the signature of the distribution contract with all clients
Management:
- Manage & lead subsidiary within the frame of the objectives defined by his/her hierarchy and according to the locally available resources.
- Pilot the teams and the relationship with local external partners (legal, HR, logistics, etc )
- Animate and federate all internal teams towards a common objective, while carefully seeking for development of each employee full potential
Representation:
- Represent Expanscience toward external entities (administrations, other companies, class organizations, legal parties),
- Develop relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (Professors, Doctors, Media, other stake holders)
Commitment to Quality/CSR:
- Ensure continuous improvement and respect for procedures particularly in terms of Quality and CSR.
- Contributes in its function to the deployment of the CSR policy and our commitment as a B Corp company
Knowledge required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher relevant qualification
- At least 10 years of fulltime experience relevant to the baby goods industry and/or parent consumer target
- Strong knowledge of Dermo cosmetic, and Pharma business in a French company
- Experience as General/Country Manager or Manager/Head of a business unit
- Strong knowledge of distribution channels & experience in dealing with chains (of pharmacy, drugstores/Para pharmacies, etc.)
- Experience in deployment/ supervising CSR corporate policy

From $145,000.00 per year
