Occupational Therapy Team

Where you'll be working:

A fantastic opportunity exists for an Allied Health Assistant to join our Community Occupational Therapist Team. The suitable applicant will be based at one of our community health centres in the Greater Newcastle area.

  • Western Newcastle Community Health Service

About the role:

Our Community Occupational Therapists work with clients living in the Greater Newcastle area (including Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Port Stephens LGAs).

Most of our clients are aged 65 and over, but we do see clients under 65 years of age if they meet the inclusion criteria for service.

The Allied Health Assistant plays an important role in supporting the clinicians to provide a high level of care for our clients.


  • You will be required to perform a wide variety of tasks, including booking appointments, managing the diaries of the therapists, and assisting therapists with managing the waitlists
  • You will work directly with clients under the supervision of the treating therapist
  • You will be part of a large Occupational Therapy team and be supported by experienced clinicians

Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement (IHS), or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate, or AIR COVID-19 and Influenza IHS.

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
