Summary of role


The Department of Treasury and Finance is the Government's fiscal, economic and policy advisor, focussed on ensuring South Australia is a thriving, prosperous State now and in the future.

The Department is looking to transform and modernise their operations and way of working, using digital as one of its levers.

The department has commenced the establishment of an internal Centre of Excellence (CoE) for its digital services, transforming the existing Information and Technology (I&T) branch into a high-quality enabler for its broad business.


The Manager, Cyber Assurance and Enablement is responsible for leading and managing the I&T cyber security team by addressing issues such as operational planning, resource allocation, staff development, team management and communication to ensure effective and efficient deployment of staff and resources to ensure client and business outcomes are achieved.


The role reports to the Director, Cyber Security and will also have a close working relationship with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Services Officer and I&T staff.


Role Responsibilities

  • Leading, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating strategies, projects, policies and services in cyber security that contribute to the strategic goals and vision of the department and government.
  • Efficiently and effectively managing the cyber security team and function in a defined resource base.
  • Ensuring the development and implementation of policies and standards relating to cyber security within the department that are in line with the overall policies of the department and government.
  • Significantly contributing to the effective planning, management and delivery of I&T branch's functions, goals and objectives
  • Ensuring effective planning, development, implementation and evaluation of major and complex projects relating to cyber security.
  • Maintaining knowledge of contemporary techniques and information technology developments for delivery of cyber security best practice relevant to departmental needs.
  • Representing the department in senior level and/or interagency delegations and negotiations pertaining to cyber security.

Special Conditions

  • Some out of hours work may be required. Intrastate and interstate travel may be required
  • The incumbent will be required to participate in the Departmental Performance Management Program
  • The incumbent may be required to be assigned to other positions at the same remuneration level across the department.
