About the team


This role sits within the Cancer Prevention & Advocacy Division who works at a local level to form sustainable relationships to ensure Cancer Council NSW have a visible and relevant presence in community and can effectively respond to our communities' insights and needs.


About the role


Reporting to the Lead, Community this role is responsible for identifying and engaging key community stakeholders to foster a conversation between communities and CCNSW, build sustainable relationships and ultimately improve cancer outcomes through the implementation of effective research, prevention, advocacy, information and support services.


Key responsibilities:

  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to effectively gather and utilise community insights to implement Cancer Council programs and
  • Deliver, monitor, report and contribute to the evaluation of Cancer Council programs and
  • Collaborate with key community and internal stakeholders to identify and address gaps in service provision and opportunities to improve cancer outcomes aligned to organisational
  • Recruit, coach and manage volunteers to support Cancer Council in the implementation of programs and services.
  • Inspire volunteers through recognition and learning and development
  • Include supporters and key community stakeholders in CC engagement, learning and development and fundraising
  • Collaborate with local team and key internal stakeholders to integrate impact of Cancer Council programs and services into fundraising
  • Identify opportunities to respectfully capture and tell stories of Cancer Council impact in local

About You

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, public health or similar
  • A sound understanding of relationship management, community engagement and the ability to translate this into an achievable way of working
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and develop strong and effective relationships with health and community care professionals, government and nongovernment organisations, community groups and volunteers
  • Demonstrated understanding of the effects of cancer on individuals and families
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training programs and course materials
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high performing team
  • Visible enthusiasm and passion for Cancer Council NSW's vision, mission and values
  • High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Availability for and willingness to travel in and work with all communities across NSW
  • Work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings)
  • Class C driver's

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated understanding of working with priority populations
  • Experience in developing the public profile of a communitybased organisation/program
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the charitable
