The Role:


Reporting to the Head of Waterway & Catchment Service South East this role will play a leading role in creating vibrant and safe waterways and catchments within the Dandenong river basin.

You will ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of Melbourne Water waterways, drainage, and catchment management services through:


  • Overseeing the delivery of waterway, drainage and catchment programs, optimised across all delivery mechanisms, to help Melbourne Water achieve our strategic objectives.
  • Proactively and adaptively managing team planning and business planning to ensure we have the resourcing, capability and approaches to deliver our services reliably today and be ready for tomorrow.
  • Timely and accurate financial management for capital and operating expenditure (including actuals, accruals and forecasting as applicable) across your region's budgets and allocations.
  • Drive step change in service delivery outcomes inline with Melbourne Water's obligations, performance objectives and levels of service.
  • Evolve and execute Melbourne Water's catchment, waterways and drainage services in collaboration with the rest of the business, key codelivery partners and in alignment with customer expectations.
  • Lead Melbourne Water's response to issues and incidents as required, within and outside of business hours.

Your Skills and Experience:


  • Significant experience in leading, managing and motivating team members to deliver complex programs of work and achieve key performance objectives and service outcomes.
  • A graduate qualification in environmental / natural resource management, science, social science or engineering is preferred but not essential.
  • A strategic thinker with risk management / governance experience.
  • Ability to swim at a competent level due to work on or near water.
  • Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Experienced in managing key relationships (internally and externally), influencing, partnering and supporting key partnership objectives.
