About the role
The Queensland Cord Blood Bank At The Mater (QCBB) was established in 1998 and is a member of the AusCord public cord blood banking network operating within Australia. The program is funded by the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments of Australia. This role is designed to work collaboratively with the Obstetric Unit and to recruit and consent mothers who are delivering at the Mater Mothers' Hospital who wish to donate their baby's cord blood as potential life-saving therapy for patients worldwide with life-threatening diseases such as leukaemia. The Recruitment and Collection Officers collect the umbilical cord blood following the delivery of a baby. Collection of maternal blood samples and a detailed medical/family history are also key elements of the role.
The position is employed on Mater Misericordiae Limited's Operational Award at Level 4 ($34.95 – $38.32 per hour + entitlements)
