- Provide compassionate and individualized care to women throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, respecting their autonomy and choices.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of maternal and fetal wellbeing, including fetal monitoring and labor progression, and initiate appropriate interventions as necessary.
- Support women during childbirth, providing physical and emotional support, pain management techniques, and assistance with birthing positions and techniques.
- Facilitate breastfeeding initiation and provide lactation support and education to new mothers.
- Collaborate closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address any complications or concerns.
- Educate women and their families about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and postpartum recovery, empowering them to make informed decisions and promote their wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of midwifery assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Current registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Working with Children check (if relevant)
- Compliance with ACQSHC National Standards
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Midwife, preferably in a maternity unit or birthing centre.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with women and their families.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Highly developed clinical skills in maternity services: antenatal/birth suite/postnatal care
