    About the role
  • We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Performing urine drug and alcohol, and oral fluid drug testing including all routine procedures associated with day to day running within the toxicology laboratory
  • Operate and perform maintenance on laboratory instrumentation including immunoassay and LCMS.
  • Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
  • Ensure GLP and laboratory conformance to AS/NZS 4308:2008 and AS/NZS 4760:201
  • Assist laboratory manager to ensure laboratory compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
  • Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
  • Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
  • Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary

About you

  • To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
  • At minimum hold a Pathology Technician's certificate, an Associate Diploma of Medical Technology, or equivalent
  • Graduates from Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry, forensic science) or equivalent seeking entry into toxicology
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with immunoassay and mass spectrometry techniques is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting is desirable
  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Selfinitiative and problemsolving capabilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
  • Ability to demonstrate sound organisation skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure
