About the role

  • We are seeking a Laboratory Manager to join our team of talented individuals based at our Adamstown laboratory. Working directly with 10 laboratory staff and reporting to the Area Manager. This role is a fantastic mix of supervising staff and hands on laboratory work.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Supervising a laboratory with a technical matrix of 10 staff consisting of, Laboratory Aides, Technical & Scientific staff in a multidisciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation & Semen motility)
  • Prioritising work
- flow to meet client's requirements

  • Ensuring results are released within agreed turnaround times
  • Liaising with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results
  • Overseeing the management of laboratory equipment to ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition and working order, scheduled routine maintenance is performed, and any unscheduled maintenance is performed as required
  • Reviewing and updating all laboratory documentation as required

About you

  • To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
  • Tertiary Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
  • Must hold AIMS accreditation
  • At least 3 years' experience in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships
  • Experience in working under tight deadlines to meet day to day targets, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timeline
  • Results orientated and a proactive and effective problem solver
  • Proven skills in defining, prioritising, and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to always demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity

Vaccination Requirements

  • Vaccine preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
  • Other vaccinations based on location may be required / setting
