You will be joining a market leading national insurance company as a Legal Counsel with a strong focus on complex claims work and utilising Chapter 7 of the Corps Act, working within an established and fun legal team based in either Sydney or Melbourne on a 12 month contract.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Legal Counsel with a focus on claims to join a leading insurance group.
This role offers the chance to make a significant impact within the organisation, managing and providing advice on complex claims escalated to the Legal team.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly effective, customer-focused in-house legal team, delivering high-quality legal services and establishing deep relationships with internal stakeholders.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract based in Sydney or Melbourne.About the Role
Responsibilities include:
Deliver high-quality legal services to support the organisation's core insurance business
Manage and provide advice on significant and complex claims that are escalated to the legal team
Establish deep and effective relationships with internal stakeholders
Contribute to a highly effective, collegiate and customer-focused in-house legal team
Triage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Proactively provide customer-centric solutionsAbout You
You have:
Legal practice experience of more than 3 years post qualification experience (PQE)
Strong experience with Chapter 7 of the Corps Act is essential
Experience in one or more areas: insurance law; insurance litigation; property, legal and regulatory framework governing general insurance; general insurance product drafting and review; claims management and coverage issues; policy interpretation; complaints handling; management of legal and regulatory risks relating to insurance operations
Well-developed legal skills including written communications, advisory, negotiation, relationship building
Developing stakeholder management skills with the ability to proactively provide customer-centric solutions
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply.
