Role Detail


The Office of General Counsel (OGC) within King & Wood Malleson's (KWM) aims to provide first class service with commercial advice.

They have an extensive understanding of KWM - how it operates as a business and a law firm.

Their goal is to find the balance between complying with our obligations under legislation and creating a valuable experience for our clients and our Partners and staff.


Joining this highly regarded inhouse team, reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will be responsible for providing legal advice to the firm and its associated entities.

Based in the Sydney office, with a balanced approach to WFH, key responsibilities include:

  • Providing assistance and support to the General Counsel, Head of Legal and broader OGC team
  • Delivering commercially focussed, and at an exceptional standard, legal advice to the firm and its associated entities covering Australia and Singapore on a broad range of legal matters
  • Reviewing, advising on and expertly drafting a wide range of legal documents, including supplier agreements, technology agreements, event agreements, leases, legal notices, confidentiality agreements and other legal documentation
  • This will be approx 70% of this 12mth position
  • Assisting with strategic projects that have firmwide significance by providing legal advice and considering relevant legal issues under the guidance of the Head of Legal

You will also bring:

  • 34 years+ experience in a practising legal role
  • Excellent organisational, matter management and time management skills
  • Strong drafting and advisory skills
  • Attention to detail to deliver a highquality work product
  • Ability to work autonomously and to use initiative to problem solve issues
  • Ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate and work well in a small team environment
  • Ability to think holistically about legal issues and their practical impact for the firm.
