About The Role


The Project Services Lead will provide the required project services expertise to support to the Project Manager and delivery team on a hands-on approach to ensure timely completion and delivery of the project within the approved capital and schedule timeline.

It is a Perth based role with occasional travel to site.


The Project Services Lead shall drive and ensure the processes, procedures and systems are ready to support the development & monitoring of the overall project master schedule, EPCM Level 3 schedule, effective cost management of Owners Budget and tracking of ECPM Budget ensuring transparency and auditability of transactions, accurate forecasting, progress tracking, cost and schedule performance analysis, management of changes, identify and communicate issues, concerns and mitigations to the wider delivery team in order to meet project targets through effective reporting.


The role functionally reports to the project services group and is assigned to project teams for project delivery of Iluka's major capital project, accountable to the Project Manager.

Reporting to Balranald Project Manager, the Project Services Lead will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the project is set-up, monitored and tracked in accordance with Iluka Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), processes, procedures, policies and complying to the provisions of the Integrated Project Delivery framework.
  • Ensuring the Owners Team Budget are reviewed and correctly allocated to appropriate control accounts prior to baselining, track & monitor actuals and validate accuracy of forecast.
  • Ensuring the Owners Team Schedule are defined and correctly incorporated into the Project Master Schedule prior to baselining, track progress & performance and validate accuracy of forecast.
  • Monitoring managed and ensure integrity of cost and schedule forecasts of the Contractor (EPCM and EPCM managed packages).
  • Ensuring that all project plans are approved and in place prior to work commencement, in particular the Project Controls Management Plan (PCMP) and strictly adhered to.
  • Ensuring Owners Team cost and schedule are properly reviewed and reported with variances and trends clearly identified and mitigations in place to reduce risks to the project and to the business.
  • Reviewing and checking EPCM data and reports are properly carried out, lead and drive review meetings with source of issues clearly identified and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring proper forecasting techniques are applied and capturing trends and potential deviations as required, perform checks to maintain integrity and legitimacy of identified trends and deviations. Attend on trend meetings initiated by the Contractor (EPCM Provider) and lead the trend meeting with respect to Owner's scope.
  • Reviewing the progress reports of the Contractor (EPCM Provider) and provide comments as appropriate prior to integrating and consolidating into the final report version of the Company (Iluka).
  • Effectively communicating with the project management team on their scope of work, schedule details, milestones, upcoming works, slippage, and any required corrective action
  • Undertaking appropriate reviews and collaboration with Company's Contracts & Procurement team, with respect to cost and extension of time claim assessments.
  • Support in the development of What-IF or Scenario schedules and appropriate cost impact calculations.
  • Leading estimate reviews and assist in the preparation of any estimating requirements of the project.
  • Driving any required Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) or Cost Risk Analysis (CRA), attending risk and opportunities workshops, reviewing and sign off the risk reports.
  • Monitoring of identified project risks and providing inputs to the risk and opportunities register.
  • Ensuring all project services tracking registers are updated at all times and provide inputs to other registers maintained by other Company's discipline group.
  • Ensuring all document control process are implemented within the project lifecycle.
  • Provide back-to-back cover, in lieu of the unavailability of both Senior Planner and Senior Cost Engineer, as required.
