Position Summary

The Information and Communication Technology Group (ICTG) delivers the business infrastructure that

supports the other Groups in the discharge of their statistics and information responsibilities. Within ICTG,

the ICT Operations and Platforms Unit provides the ICT infrastructure necessary to support the AIHW's

evolving and expanding business requirements as well as supporting ICT security and project initiatives.

AIHW's rich mix of technologies, coupled with the Institutes' dynamic and nationally significant work program,

makes for a challenging and exciting work environment. The ICT Operations and Platforms Unit works closely

together to exploit their diverse range of talents and skill sets to find new and innovative approaches to meet

these challenges.

This role sits within the ICT Operations and Platforms Unit and will be responsible for managing the technical

support, processes, and administration of AIHW's Secure Environments. These secure environments are

used to share datasets with internal AIHW staff and external clients for collaborative research and analysis.

APS6 ICT Secure Environments Technical Administrator

As the Secure Environment Administrator, you will be primarily responsible for managing and administering

the data and Environments.

  • Work as part of a small team to provide and maintain a high quality, client focused service for sharing
sensitive data.

  • Coordinate ICT operations with business and project needs.
  • Provide operational support to users, particularly training users in policy, process, and system
capability.

  • Provide system maintenance (Windows & Linux) and scripting support for both.
  • External client communications.
  • Plan, manage, and lead work to develop, test and implement data infrastructure projects.
  • Provide detailed advice and options on systems and environments, including enhancements and
specifications for new environments, to meet business needs.

  • Represent the AIHW at meetings, conferences or seminars and liaise with people both inside and
outside the AIHW.

Selection Criteria


  • Experience in, or knowledge of, secure data environments and/or cloud-based platforms and
services.


  • Experience in Windows and Linux system maintenance as well as writing and maintaining scripts for
both is mandatory and a key component of the role. Knowledge of Nutanix is desirable.
