The South Australian Skills Commission (the Commission) advises the Minister for Education, Training and Skills on a range of matters such as: vocational education and training (VET) funding and quality; strategies and priorities for workforce development; and the state's role as part of an integrated national system as defined by the South Australian Skills Act (the SAS Act The Commission also regulates the State's apprenticeship and traineeship system.

The Information Officer operates within the context of the SAS Act 2008, the South Australian Skills Regulations 2021 and the South Australian Skills Standards, and is responsible for:

  • Providing frontline information and service to internal and external customers of the Commission.
  • Managing and maintaining a range of administrative processes and data systems to support the effective and efficient operation of the Commission. This includes maintaining the Commission's web page content and other promotional materials and providing support to the South Australian Skills Commissioner (Commissioner) and the Commissions management team as required.
  • Supporting the Commission staff to undertake research and other administrative tasks associated with preparing documents.
  • Contributing to and supporting efficient work practices within the Commission.
  • The provision of administrative and information services across the Commission.
  • Delivering front facing customer service to customers of the Commission.

Special Conditions:


The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care).


Please note that department employees working in high-risk environments are required to maintain up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19, with a TGA Approved Vaccine, or comply with the following reasonable, additional safety measures to mitigate risk in the workplace.

Vaccination status must be disclosed and provided for sighting on request.

Applicants are required to submit a CV, the Application Cover Sheet, Employment Declaration, and a written statement of no more than 1500 words addressing the selection criteria below:

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills and the ability to provide clear and concise information and advice with tact and diplomacy. This includes the ability to exercise appropriate negotiation and problem-solving techniques in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Proven ability to work without supervision, determine priorities, plan and organise workloads and exercise sound judgement on complex, confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Proven experience in providing and performing a range of high level administrative and financial functions including records and data management utilising word processing, spreadsheets, database and webbased technology and preparing statistical information for reporting purposes.
  • Proven experience in a front facing customer service environment.

Remuneration:

ASO3 $65,606 - $69,919 p.a.
