Role Details
***The Principal Policy Advisor is a role within Inclusion and Reform and is accountable to the Senior Manager, Disability Access and Inclusion for:
  • leading the development, implementation and advice of strategies and policy to support service reform within the Department of Human Services
- providing leadership and strategic advice on relevant policy and service reform
- establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with staff across the Department, staff within other agencies, and representatives from the community services sector.


Key outcomes and accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff and stakeholders to successfully develop effective and evidence-based policy and strategy development.
  • Influence outcomes by establishing and maintaining effective collaborations and a network of strategic alliances with key stakeholders across government.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to management and key stakeholders across government on policy, procedures and operational issues.
  • Represent the DHS in committees, forums and working groups at the State and National level in relation to implementation of whole of government strategies.
  • Prepare high quality written documents, including briefings and reports to a range of stakeholders within required timeframes.
  • Provide advice to the Director about the ongoing development and review of legislation and policy.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant policy trends and issues within the State, nationally and internationally.

Note:

Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department.

The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

About the Business


Inclusion and Reform acts as a central reform unit that brings together the policy and reform expertise from different directorates and functions within our department, including the Early Intervention Research Directorate, Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships, Social Inclusion and The Reform Hub.

Working across the department, the division is responsible for ensuring we deliver on the policies, reforms and improvements to which we have committed, in order to deliver the best possible services and programs for the South Australian community.


Role Status:
Term up to 30/11/2024


Salary Range:
$117,554 - $121,992 (ASO8)
