Role Details
The Principal Policy Officer - Screening Reform is accountable for implementing the national worker screening check for the aged care sector in South Australia including:

  • Leading the development of elements of the policy, planning and implementation of the national worker screening check for the aged care sector.
  • Representing DHS in committees, forums and working groups at a state and national level in relation to the implementation of the national worker screening check for the aged care sector.
  • Providing high level policy development, planning, project management, implementation and evaluation of reforms that focus on the South Australian screening framework.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:

  • Lead, scope, design and manage projects by preparing project briefs, developing project plans and reporting on project outcomes.
  • Prepare high level policy advice that is based on sound analysis and research.
  • Prepare high quality documents, including reports, briefings, submissions and business cases which are succinct.
  • Undertake high level consultation and negotiation, working with cross-government working groups and other stakeholders, to prepare recommendations for implementing the national worker screening check for the aged care sector.
  • Lead consultation and communication processes with relevant stakeholders, consumers and organisations to implement screening reforms.

Note:

Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department.

The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.


Special Conditions
National Police Check required.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.

Tertiary qualification in politics, law or other related disciplines is desirable.

Community Investment and Support is responsible for the provision of many vital services to the South Australian public to help build stronger and better-connected communities.

The division provides screening of those who work with children or vulnerable people, as well as procurement of goods and services for the department, including important social services from the not-for profit sector.


The division also provides grants and commissions services to promote economic participation, as well as a range of concessions to the community, and interpreting and translating services to both public and private organisations.
